Disrupting Application
New Typology

My philosophy as an architectural teacher is to prepare students for the challenges that they will face in the future. As we witness the impact of digital applications on the field of architecture, it is crucial for aspiring architects to have a deep understanding of the potential disruptions that these technologies may bring to building’s typologies. Therefore, my focus is not on teaching for the present but for tomorrow.

As a researcher and technologist, I have delved into the effects of digital applications on various institutional building typologies such as agoras, banks, cemeteries, libraries, and malls. At the School of Architecture at Syracuse University, I intend to introduce my students to the methodology borrowed from user experience and user interface designers, such as wireframe diagrams, user flows, empathy maps, persona cards, and atomic design systems. By doing so, students can become interdisciplinary and understand how the digital applications that impact their design are developed.

My approach to teaching architecture is to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to design buildings that can accommodate ever-emerging technological disruptions. By doing so, I can prepare my students to be innovative, flexible, and resilient architects, capable of designing buildings that are both functional and responsive to the needs of the future.
